Exploring the complexity of relationships between humans and nature the Tuning Room makes home to a transplanted ancient fungal creature which communicates through low frequencies just beyond human hearing. Using a combination of computer vision in Jitter and customized MaxMSP software controlling a network of subwoofers in the floor platforms, the Tuning Room allows for a visceral interaction with another species. When you enter the space, and then stop moving and stay still, the fungi under your feet respond to your presence and connection through a low frequency pulse vibration. When more than one person in the space stops moving and connects to the ground at the same time the fungal signal will shift allowing you to physically feel the mycelial transmission, as well as your connection to the ground and other people in the space.
